Role Summary
The Data Scientist II role in Predictive Customer Engagement is a high-impact analytical role for individuals who can challenge assumptions, explore innovative analytical approaches, and apply advanced data science techniques to drive better commercial decisions. This role is intended for an experienced data scientist with strong forecasting, predictive modeling, and business problem-solving skills who can execute end-to-end analytical workstreams, solution direction, prioritization, and generate insights that directly influence commercial and strategic decision-making. The individual will partner closely with stakeholders across Commercial, Finance, Market Access, Medical, and Analytics to translate business needs into robust analytical solutions, while collaborating with senior team members on broader solution direction, prioritization, and more complex problem framing. The role combines deep technical execution, business impact orientation, and strong cross-functional partnership to improve customer engagement and performance outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop predictive and descriptive analytics solutions for customer engagement, HCP targeting, omnichannel optimization, and related commercial use cases.
- Contribute to the ideation, design, development, and deployment of analytical and AI/ML solutions across the Predictive Customer Engagement portfolio
- Perform exploratory data analysis and statistical analysis across CRM, claims, prescription, and other healthcare commercial datasets.
- Build, validate, and improve machine learning models with clear commercial relevance.
- Create clear visualizations, summaries, and presentations to communicate findings to business and technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to reusable analytical workflows, model documentation, and code quality practices within the team.
- Work with data engineering and platform teams to support reliable data pipelines and scalable analytical assets.
- Apply sound experimentation, measurement, and analytical thinking to evaluate business performance and engagement strategies.
- Stay current with evolving analytics and AI methods relevant to healthcare commercial use cases.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior data scientists and actively participate in knowledge sharing and team development initiatives.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong proficiency in Python, R, or PySpark for data analysis, modeling, and automation.
- Good understanding of statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, regression, clustering, and forecasting methods.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and large structured datasets.
- Familiarity with healthcare or pharmaceutical commercial data such as CRM, claims, or engagement data.
- Ability to translate business questions into structured analytical approaches and measurable outputs.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, matplotlib, or seaborn.
- Working knowledge of version control and standard model development practices.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work across analytics and business teams.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, or machine learning roles.
- Experience solving business problems using statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Preferred exposure to healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceutical commercial analytics.
- Experience working with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced delivery environment.
Good to Have
- Exposure to omnichannel analytics, HCP engagement measurement, or targeting use cases.
- Experience with US pharmaceutical data sources such as IQVIA, Symphony, Komodo, or similar datasets.
- Exposure to MLOps workflows, cloud platforms, or pipeline orchestration tools.
- Exposure to GenAI, LLMs, or explainability methods in applied analytics settings.
- Experience contributing to code reviews or shared analytical assets.
