Role
This leadership role is responsible for driving, advising, and collaborating on the end-to-end sourcing and contracting processes for Technical Operations services; mainly Clinical Drug Supply. The position works closely with external service providers, including CMOs and IRT suppliers but also other vendors supporting the clinical drug supply business.
The role will define and implement sourcing and contracting strategies that enhance value, minimize risk and cost, ensure quality, and support scalability in a dynamic and growing business environment.
Responsibilities
The primary accountability of this role is to lead the end-to-end sourcing and contracting process in close collaboration with the Technical Operations team, ensuring timely and fit-for-purpose agreements.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead strategic sourcing planning and execution for clinical drug supply services
Drive the end-to-end sourcing process, including RFP development and execution
Oversee vendor evaluation and due diligence for new and existing suppliers
Enable and support vendor selection decisions
Lead contract lifecycle management, including negotiation, execution, and amendments for master service agreements, statements of work (SOWs), and change orders
Act as the coordinating contract manager for clinical drug supply sourcing activities
Manage vendor governance and performance, including:
Chairing governance meetings
Driving issue escalation and resolution
Mitigating risks and optimizing processes
Identifying trends and continuous improvement opportunities
Develop and manage category strategies within the assigned area
Advise stakeholders in Technical Operations on best practices across supplier performance, risk, and relationship management
Define, implement, and maintain outsourcing strategies for assigned service categories
Additionally, this role will:
Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of global procurement, sourcing and contract management, as well as vendor governance processes
Collaborate cross-functionally with Technical Operations, Legal, IT&D, Finance, Compliance & Risk and QA
Support cross-functional projects and training initiatives as needed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
10+ years of relevant industry experience
Proven experience in clinical drug supply vendor management and and/or clinical outsourcing
Strong understanding of clinical development and/or technical operations processes
Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong collaboration skills across diverse internal and external stakeholders
Strong project management and coordination capabilities
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Proactive, results-oriented, and solution-driven mindset
Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., drug supply managers, scientists, trial managers, clinicians, data managers, and vendors)
