SECTION 1: JOB SUMMARY*

 

Johnson & Johnson Services, Inc. is recruiting for an Employee Health & Well-Being Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) to support the Ethicon facilities in San Lorenzo & Manati manufacturing site in Puerto Rico. This role will be based in Puerto Rico. J&J is continuously reviewing its talent strategy. Following our EHW Global Strategy and supported by our policies, programs, and resources, the Employee Health & Well-Being OHN, will bring to life our effective approaches and strategies to serve our employees. As an OHN, you are caring for the health of manufacturing employees on shift 3 with ability to rotate shifts.

SECTION 2: DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Provide nursing services at specific site with emphasis on Occupational Health Programs including injury and illness management, medical surveillance, case management, disability management, return to work and medical accommodations.

  • Collaborate with Site lead, Occupational Health Nurses and Occupational Health Physician and Well-Being resources to provide integrated health services.

  • Perform occupational health surveillance evaluations and tests as established on company’s guidelines:

    • Coordinate tests with internal and external resources.

    • Coordinate with departments’ managers and supervisors.

    • Document interventions in electronic record management system. 

    • Maintain master record in order.

  • Administer medications and performs various minor treatments or therapies for injured or ill employees following J&J clinical procedures and standing orders.

  • Provide support on Health & Well-Being Policies deployment at the site, including, but not limited, to health promotion, education, employee engagement and activation events.

  • Provide nursing services and emergency (first-aid) treatments to employees who become ill or suffer an accident on company premises, arranging for transportation to another care provider, if needed.  Notifies all concerned.

  • Maintain accurate clinical records, utilizing approved medical, nursing and statistical formats.

  • Advise and counsels employees within areas of core competency and integrated services and make appropriate referrals (internal and external) when indicated.

  • Develop knowledge of the occupational hazards/exposures, and treatment for the specific location.

  • Assist in the process of medical leaves of absence and Workers’ Compensation or equivalent as required.

  • Comply with all health-related policies, procedures and applicable regulations including, but not limited to, State Nurse Practice Act and Nursing professional credentials.

  • Maintain high level of confidentiality and sensitivity to inquiries and access to personal medical records and information as defined by J&J’s Confidentiality Policy.

  • Maintain accurate clinical records, utilizing approved medical, nursing and statistical formats, including digital skills, ensures compliance with the Records Management Policies and maintains accurate medical daily log.

  • Refer work related injury/ illness cases to Worker’s Compensation (Fondo), as required and ensure compliance with the J&J Injury / Illness classification and recordkeeping guideline.

  • With the previous assessment and approval from the EHW Site Lead, collaborate in business initiatives and projects related to Occupational Health and employee protection.

  • Will conduct duties as assigned by site lead depending on volume at clinic. Assist in preparation for audits, internal and external.

  • Comply with EHW training, credentialing and other local and regulatory J&J policies.

SECTION 3: EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION*

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nurse (Current and Non-restricted license).

  • Occupational Health Nursing Certification / Puerto Rico Nursing College Collegiate.

SECTION 4: REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS*

  • AED and CPR certification

  • Hearing conservation and respiratory protection certifications.

  • Occupational Health and Clinical Practice experience (3 to 5 years)

  • Fluent English and Spanish communication skills.

  • Position requires inclusion into Bloodborne Pathogens program.

  • Active participant of site Emergency Response Team.

  • Availability on overtime and rotating shifts if required with previous notification by the EHW Site Lead.

  • Willing to travel to affiliates within Puerto Rico with previous notification by the EHW Site Lead.
