Job Description:

Medical Intelligence Specialist/Manager, Medical Affairs 

Job Level Flexibility: Open to candidates at both Specialist and Manager levels.

  • Management of scientific knowledge and medical information based on customer needs and product life cycle in Japan. Creation, maintenance and provision of FAQs in reference global SRD to medical/phone-representatives, and also co-promotion partners.
  • Develops basic, HCC-compliant materials in accordance with industry standards
  • Responsible for quality of fundamental materials
  • Responsible for scientific judgement of the review process for appropriate materials and medical information.

Manager Level:

  • Influence the performance of the department /group with a global and company-wide perspective (a role model for others)
  • Make proposals to the G-head regarding department / group goals and be the G-Head's right-hand person
  • Encourage and support non-managers in the department/group to perform Band equivalent tasks and responsible for human resource development

Specialist Level:

· Contribute to the performance of the department /group with a global and company-wide perspective

· When complex and difficult conflicts and issues arise, be able to build mutual understanding, make

decisions and lead independently until resolution

· Leader of MI operations (right-hand person of G-Head). With expertise in MI operations, can improve

projects and operations related to group operations

· Ability to lead and train junior staff in MI operations

RELATED EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred (medical science or considerable background).

  • Work experience of 4-5 years in pharmaceutical industry or medical institute.

  • Medical Affairs, Pharmacovigilance, and Clinical Development, etc.
  • Medical doctor, pharmacist, nurse, other Para-medicals and medical representatives (MR)

LIST JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Interpersonal flexibility to effectively interact with a broad range of personnel in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Verbal & written communication skills with polite & assertiveness manner.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communications skills both in Japanese and English.
  • Understanding of regulatory and legal requirements associated with pharmaceutical information provision.
  • Strong work ethic, integrity and respect.
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills with proactively.
  • Negotiation skill with colleagues who are conflicts of interests (eg. Sales, MKT, etc.)
  • Project management skill Vendors management skill

The role involves extensive interactions with:

  • Medical doctors and pharmacists.
  • Clinical Regulatory, PV, BQ, CMC, PMS, HPMA, Communications, Sales and Marketing.
  • Medical Information of co-promotion partners.
  • Global and AP Medical Affairs.
  • Healthcare vendors, Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA)
