Job Description

Systems Analyst II – R&D Information Systems

Role Overview

The Systems Analyst II is a technically skilled individual contributor role within R&D Information Systems, focused on data analysis and solution delivery across analytics, data, and operational workflows. This role owns the accuracy and reliability of data and reporting outputs, connecting business stakeholders with delivery teams to translate needs into scalable, trusted solutions. You will work both independently and collaboratively with senior team members while driving the adoption of AI‑enabled workflows under defined guidance and governance.

This role offers the opportunity to grow into a senior technical contributor by progressively taking ownership of end‑to‑end data quality processes and driving workflow improvements. There is significant opportunity to be hands‑on with AI, including evaluating and integrating AI/ML tools into analytics pipelines, developing AI‑enabled solutions for data validation and reporting automation, and helping shape the team's AI strategy and governance practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and map how R&D business processes flow across systems, data pipelines, analytics layers, and dashboards to identify gaps and improvement opportunities

  • Own data definitions, mappings, and lineage documentation, ensuring consistency across systems and stakeholders

  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues by tracing root causes across source systems, ETL processes, and reporting layers

  • Write and optimize SQL queries to validate data accuracy, perform ad hoc analysis, and support reporting needs

  • Lead intake and requirements gathering for analytics and reporting requests, translating business needs into technical specifications

  • Review and approve analytics, reporting, and data‑related deliverables from offshore or partner teams, providing actionable technical feedback

  • Identify and resolve data or reporting issues independently; escalate cross‑system problems with documented analysis and recommended solutions

  • Design and execute test plans for data integrations, report changes, and system updates prior to production release

  • Build and maintain runbooks, data dictionaries, and technical documentation to support operational continuity

  • Implement and refine AI‑enabled workflows within analytics and operational processes, evaluating output quality and recommending improvements

  • Document repeatable AI usage patterns and contribute to the team's AI governance framework

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

  • Experience requirements by degree level:

    • Bachelor's degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience

    • Master's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience

  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying, validation, and analysis

  • Hands‑on experience with at least two of the following: Tableau, Power BI, ThoughtSpot, Spotfire, or similar BI/analytics platforms

  • Working knowledge of data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts

  • Experience supporting or building analytics solutions in a business systems or R&D environment

  • Ability to independently troubleshoot data issues, document findings, and communicate technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team‑based, matrixed environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry, particularly in clinical development.

  • Familiarity with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and other relevant compliance frameworks.

  • Experience working with offshore or external delivery teams in a technical review capacity

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or R for data analysis or automation

  • Hands‑on experience with testing/UAT methodologies for data and reporting systems

  • Exposure to AI/ML tools used for analytics or workflow automation, with a focus on output validation and quality assurance

  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD concepts as applied to data or analytics workflows
