Pay Range:

$100,800.00 - $165,600.00

Position Summary

The Sr. IT Security Specialist is responsible for the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policy and strategy, protecting the organization's digital assets from cyber threats and attacks. This role oversees the selection, development, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and enhancement of the organization's cybersecurity technology, with a focus on advanced security monitoring, incident response, and operational risk management within the cybersecurity framework.

The Sr. IT Security Specialist identifies and tracks advanced persistent threats (APTs), anomalous activities, and potential intrusions, while analyzing trends in security alerts and events. This position requires availability on call outside of regular working hours to respond to urgent issues and ensure continuous operational support.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor and analyze security alerts from SIEM, EDR, DLP, and email threat detection platforms to detect anomalous activities, lateral movements, and persistence mechanisms.

  • Lead investigations and forensic analysis for cyber intrusions, including identification of anomalous activities, lateral movements, and persistence mechanisms.

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing; develop remediation plans and track compliance with security standards.

  • Contribute to threat hunting efforts and operationalize threat intelligence findings.

  • Oversee the selection, deployment, monitoring, and enhancement of cybersecurity technologies across the organization.

  • Support the development and enforcement of cybersecurity policies and strategies.

  • Identify and track advanced persistent threats (APTs) and analyze trends in security alerts and events.

  • Provide on-call support outside of regular working hours to respond to urgent security issues and ensure continuous operational support.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 5 years of related work experience, or

  • High School Diploma/GED and 7 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Preferred: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional – ISC2) or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager – ISACA) certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) and threat intelligence platforms (TIPs).

  • Familiarity with SIEM, SOAR, IDS/IPS, and endpoint detection tools.

  • Experience with the Azure and EntraID security stack, IAM principles (RBAC, least privilege), and compliance in cloud environments.

  • Ability to lead incident response efforts, perform root cause analysis, and conduct forensic investigations.

  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate security alerts, identify trends, and detect potential intrusions.

  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively to urgent security issues outside of regular working hours.
