Job Description:

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION

As a Public Affairs Lead in Rare Diseases, the purpose of your role is to :

  • Support the Head of Global Corporate Affairs, Rare Diseases by shaping and delivering the global public affairs and policy strategy, ensuring Ipsen has a clear, influential voice in the rare disease landscape.

  • Drive meaningful impact for Ipsen by elevating rare disease priorities with external stakeholders, strengthening corporate reputation, and translating the company’s rare disease purpose into real benefits for patients and healthcare systems.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Policy Leadership

  • Lead Ipsen’s global rare disease policy agenda, prioritizing issues and shaping regulatory and access environments.

  • Drive Ipsen’s position in policy debates on access to innovation, screening, diagnostics, and value frameworks.

  • Build strategic partnerships with trade associations, alliances, and think tanks to advance policies supporting sustainable innovation and equitable access.

Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy

  • Cultivate strong relationships with global policy stakeholders, patient groups, clinicians, and institutional partners.

  • Co‑create multistakeholder initiatives that advance awareness and alignment on rare disease ecosystem challenges.

  • Advise regional and country corporate affairs teams to ensure coherence between global and local advocacy efforts.

Integrated Corporate Affairs & Brand Support

  • Work as part of an integrated Corporate Affairs team—Public Affairs, Patient Advocacy, and Communications—to ensure coordinated strategy and impact.

  • Partner with brand and medical teams to develop aligned public affairs strategies for key products and pipeline assets.

  • Provide policy insights and stakeholder intelligence to inform brand strategy, evidence generation, and market access.

  • Translate complex policy and ecosystem trends into actionable engagement plans delivering business and societal value.

Execution and Impact

  • Lead high‑impact global initiatives—roundtables, partnerships, and campaigns—with operational excellence.

  • Track and evaluate policy and advocacy outcomes against strategic KPIs.

  • Represent Ipsen in external forums, consistently articulating the company’s rare disease vision and values.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • 8-10 years’ experience in public affairs, policy, government relations or patient advocacy, preferably in biopharmaceutical, healthcare, or related sectors. 

  • Demonstrated track record in developing and leading multistakeholder initiatives or coalitions in the rare disease field or adjacent therapeutic areas. 

  • Strong understanding of global and regional health policy mechanisms, particularly those influencing rare diseases, orphan drug regulation, and access to innovation. 

  • Excellent business acumen, with the ability to link policy and advocacy strategy to business and pipeline priorities. 

  • Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels. 

  • High personal accountability, strong execution focus, and a collaborative, purpose-driven mindset. 

  • Advanced degree in life sciences, public policy, or a related discipline preferred. 

  • Fluent in English; other languages (French, German, Spanish) are an advantage.
