We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Scientist to join our Microbial Strain Safety team of highly skilled and experienced experts, in Product Safety at Novonesis. The team works closely together in a collaborative and knowledge‑sharing environment and ensures that Novonesis’ microbial products are safe to work with, safe for end‑users, and safe for the environment.

The Role & Your Impact

As Scientist in Microbial Strain Safety, you will have a key operational role with ownership of the department’s quality agenda, while also contributing directly to strain safety assessments and documentation. Your work will ensure robust, audit‑ready processes, and high‑quality safety documentation that supports product development, regulatory submissions, and our customers.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Owning and driving the department’s Quality Agenda, including audit readiness and continuous improvement of ways of working

  • Developing, reviewing, and maintaining quality documentation such as SOPs, policies, training, and equipment qualification

  • Performing safety assessments of microbial strains using phenotypic and genomic analyses

  • Preparing safety assessment reports and statements for internal stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and technical sales requests

The role has a global impact, supporting multiple business areas across Novonesis.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

Education and relevant experience could include:

  • M.Sc. or a recent PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Food Science, or a related scientific field

  • Strong interest in microbiology

  • Experience with Quality Assurance and a quality mindset

  • Technical writing and scientific communication skills

  • Experience with safety assessment of bacterial strains, particularly related to antimicrobial resistance and virulence factors

  • Ability to analyze and interpret microbial genome data

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Core competencies:

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work across functions

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to critically review documentation, and challenge and improve existing procedures and processes

  • Clear and confident communication skills

Additional Skills & Interests We Value

We value experience with product safety and regulated environments, exposure to Quality Assurance, as well as familiarity with preparing documentation for authorities or customers. An interest in method development or optimization of laboratory and quality processes is considered an advantage. Ways of Working / Working Conditions

Our team is based in Hørsholm and Bagsværd, with occasional workdays in Lyngby. Travel is limited and typically less than one week per year.
