Alvotech is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Scientist to join the Potency & Binding team within our R&D organization.

We are looking for a hands-on professional with strong analytical skills, excellent organizational abilities, and a high level of accuracy.

This role involves laboratory work supporting the development of biopharmaceutical products across all stages of the pipeline, working closely with cross-functional teams.

Scope and Responsibilities

• Perform sample analysis using cell-based potency assays and binding assays to support product development across all stages.
• Develop, optimize, qualify, and validate potency assay methods.
• Work with mammalian cell culture techniques, including cell line handling, propagation, and cell bank preparation.
• Conduct and support bioassays for biosimilars and biologics sample analysis.
• Utilize and support SPR-based techniques (Surface Plasmon Resonance), where applicable.
• Perform and interpret ELISA-based assays (cell-free assays are an advantage).
• Contribute to potency-related software specification and validation.
• Ensure work is conducted in compliance with GMP and relevant regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain laboratory records with a high degree of accuracy and integrity.
• Support lab operations, including inventory management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

• Postgraduate degree (MSc or PhD) in Life Sciences or a related field.
• Proven experience in potency assay development and method qualification/validation.
• Strong experience in mammalian cell culture and bioassay techniques.
• Experience with biosimilar/biologics analytical testing.
• Knowledge of SPR techniques is highly advantageous.
• Experience with ELISA (cell-free assays is a plus).
• Familiarity with GMP environment and regulatory expectations.
• Strong data handling, documentation, and reporting skills.
• Excellent attention to detail with a structured and organized work approach.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
