AstraZeneca Apply for this positionAbout this role
Are you ready to turn Nordic health data into decision-grade evidence that shapes environment and improves outcomes for patients? This is a senior leadership role for someone who can see the full picture; from epidemiological and health data rigourness to internal and external impact.
Can you see yourself leading a multidisciplinary team that deliver real-world evidence that changes external environment, informs clinical practice, and elevates drug understanding? Are you a leader that thrive on building teams and strategies that connect science to patient impact? If so, then this role is for you!
Our AstraZeneca Nordic Marketing Company employs around 550 people and has offices located in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, and Espoo. AstraZeneca Nordic is a recognized leader in its core therapy areas and aims to improve the lives of millions of people. This is an area where you are free to be more – you are encouraged to challenge traditional ways and test your curiosity. We drive innovative science, deliver key launches, build close collaboration and partnerships within health care.
We welcome applications from all Nordic countries; placement will be in one of our four offices.
Your role
As Nordic Director, Evidence & Health Data, you will own and deliver the regional evidence strategy across multiple therapeutic areas, partnering with Medical, Market Access, and Commercial leaders to ensure our therapies reach the patients who need them. You will lead a multidisciplinary organisation responsible for real-world evidence (RWE), health data analytics and digital innovation— from strategy design through collaboration, publication and external impact.
This is not a back-office analytics function. You will sit at the intersection of science, commercial strategy and healthcare policy, translating complex data into clear recommendations that change payer decisions, inform clinical practice, and elevate drug and disease understanding across the lifecycle. Collaborating across the Nordics and partnering with European and global teams, you will bring insight, pace, and focus to a growing pipeline where learning across therapy areas in biopharma and oncology, accelerates our collective impact.
What You Will Lead
Strategy and portfolio execution
You will define, evolve, and execute the Nordic evidence strategy, ensuring it is tightly aligned to medical, access and commercial priorities. This means making investment choices; prioritising the evidence portfolio, allocating resources based on strategic value and connecting every study to reimbursement outcomes and portfolio deliverables.
Real-World evidence and health data research excellence
You will lead the design and oversight of pharmacoepidemiology and observational research programmes that deliver value demonstration, reimbursement success and lifecycle performance. Scientific rigour, ethical conduct and compliance with standards and regulatory expectations are non-negotiable; you will establish the governance frameworks that make high-quality, timely delivery the norm, including oversight of Externally Sponsored Research.
Team, Talent, and Capability
You will build, inspire, and develop a high-performing Evidence & Health Data organisation. This includes recruiting and retaining exceptional talent, coaching individuals, driving succession planning, and embedding data literacy across the wider business through training and awareness programmes.
The role will establish and lead a high functioning data science team that is accountable for the development of evidence and insight generation for AZ therapies and therapeutic areas where AZ is present.
Innovation, Analytics, and AI
You will champion advanced analytics and responsible AI to improve evidence planning, operational efficiency and insight generation - scaling effective tools and methods across teams while actively evaluating new approaches, including machine learning applied to real-world data.
Stakeholder Influence and Partnerships
You will operate as a senior strategic partner across Nordic, European and global networks, ensuring that the Nordics shape and benefit from global collaborations and decision-making. Externally, you will manage relationships with secondary data providers, RWD tool vendors and alliance partners, overseeing licences, contracts and budgets to maximise value.
Essential for the role
We are looking for a senior leader who combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision and genuine people leadership. The right candidate will have built and led evidence functions before, knows what excellence looks like and is energised by the challenge of doing it at Nordic scale within a global organisation.
Education and expertise:
Advanced degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, health economics, data science, natural sciences or a related field
Significant experience in RWE, HEOR, analytics, or evidence strategy execution within the pharmaceutical industry
Extensive hands-on experience with RWD analysis, including deep knowledge of underlying data structures for secondary data sources (administrative claims, electronic medical records) and their application in observational research
Strong grounding in biostatistics, pharmacoepidemiology methods and regulatory/HTA expectations with knowledge of clinical drug development and GCP (e.g., ICH guidelines)
Leadership and impact:
Proven senior leadership in cross-functional, matrix, and regional/global settings; you know how to influence without authority and deliver through others
Track record of building high-performing teams
Demonstrated experience driving organisational transformation with strong business acumen and external focus
Vendor and budget management experience at scale
Communication and connection:
Exceptional ability to distil complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations—whether for a wide audience, internal and external
Strong interpersonal, conflict-resolution and collaboration skills across geographies and seniority levels
Fluent English (written and spoken)
Desirables for the role
Fluency in a Nordic language
Experience leading data scientists and applying machine learning or AI-integrated evidence approaches at scale
In-depth understanding of digital innovation and advanced analytics within evidence generation
