Overview Summary Incyte Austria is entering a pivotal phase of development, with an expanding portfolio and increasing engagement across oncology, haematology, dermatology, and specialty care. The Executive Director, Country General Manager (GM) Austria will have full accountability for establishing and leading Incyte’s Austrian affiliate, shaping its strategic direction, organisational capabilities, and external reputation. This role holds end-to-end P&L responsibility and acts as the senior legal and commercial representative for Incyte in Austria. The GM will translate International strategy into a clear local vision, ensuring excellence in launch readiness, market access, medical leadership and compliant commercial execution within the Austrian healthcare system. The role requires a highly credible, externally facing leader with strong experience navigating clinical and payer and policy environments, building high-performing affiliate teams and representing a science-led biopharmaceutical company with integrity and authority. Duties and Responsibilities Strategic & Commercial Leadership Define and execute the Austrian country strategy in line with International objectives, adapting to local market dynamics and healthcare policy. Hold full P&L responsibility, ensuring sustainable growth, effective resource allocation and strong financial governance. Lead launch readiness and lifecycle management across the portfolio, integrating medical, market access and commercial capabilities. Anticipate future market, policy and competitive developments, ensuring organisational agility and long-term readiness. Market Access, Pricing & External Affairs Lead national pricing, reimbursement and market access strategies, working closely with Austrian health authorities, payers and HTA bodies. Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key external stakeholders including the Ministry of Health, sickness funds, regulators, KOLs, and industry associations. Act as Incyte’s senior spokesperson in Austria, representing the company with credibility in policy discussions and external forums. Medical & Scientific Leadership Ensure strong scientific and medical governance, fostering effective collaboration between Medical Affairs, Market Access and Commercial teams. Champion patient-centricity, evidence generation and ethical engagement with healthcare professionals and patient organisations. Organisational Leadership & Talent Development Build, lead and develop a high-performing, values-driven affiliate team with clear accountability and succession planning. Establish an effective organisational structure appropriate for a mid-sized affiliate, balancing in-house capabilities and regional support. Foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, performance excellence, and continuous development. Governance, Compliance & Risk Management Serve as the senior legal and ethical representative for Incyte in Austria, ensuring full compliance with Austrian law, industry codes (e.g. Pharmig), and Incyte policies. Ensure robust corporate governance, compliance, financial controls and risk management across all affiliate activities. Actively contribute to the Mid-Sized Markets (MSM) leadership forum and wider International network, sharing insights and best practice to support broader regional success. Experience & Qualifications Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, health economics or business (MBA or equivalent preferred). Significant senior leadership experience (typically 15+ years) within the biopharmaceutical industry, including country-level or equivalent general management accountability. Demonstrated success in leading affiliate strategy, P&L ownership, and complex product launches in a regulated European healthcare environment. Deep understanding of market access, pricing and reimbursement processes within Austria or comparable EU markets. Strong background in specialty care (oncology, haematology, immunology highly desirable). Proven ability to build organisations, lead cross-functional senior teams and influence without authority in a matrixed international environment. High level of credibility with external stakeholders and regulators. Fluency in German and English is required.
