As part of our global IP team, you will help shape patent strategy, support key R&D and business initiatives, and contribute to the continued development of our IP capabilities in a fast-moving, cross-cultural environment.
The Role & Your Impact
As a Patent Attorney in the Novonesis IP team, you will play a key role in protecting innovation, enabling business growth, and supporting the company’s long-term IP strategy. You will be responsible for independently managing patent matters for designated InnoIs, while contributing to a broad range of IP activities across China and the APAC region.
This role will have direct impact on patent filing and prosecution, R&D and business support, dispute matters, and regional IP capability building. You will also contribute to continuous improvement, digitalization, and the strengthening of Novonesis’ global IP processes.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
- Manage IP matters for designated InnoIs, including PCT drafting and global patent prosecution
- Support R&D and application projects, including SOTA and FTO analysis
- Provide patent input for local innovation and business initiatives
- Support invalidation and infringement matters
- Deliver IP training and share China legislative updates with the global team
- Contribute to regional IP priorities and business target initiatives
- Monitor Chinese legislation and translate developments into practical guidance
- Communicate complex patent issues clearly to stakeholders
- Support IP matters across APAC
- Collaborate with Chinese patent attorneys and the Admin team to improve efficiency and workflow
- Identify digital solutions and continuous improvement opportunities
- Perform other IP-related duties as required
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- A Master’s degree in Biology or a related field
- Chinese patent attorney certification
- Chinese general law certification
- At least 8 years of relevant experience

- Interest in digitalization, process improvement, and change management
- Experience working in a regional or cross-cultural environment
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to build effective relationships across internal teams and external partners
