Technical Services Scientist – Household Care
The role & your impact:
Join our Planetary Health Biosolutions team and play a key role in advancing sustainable, high‑performance detergent technologies. You’ll partner closely with major household‑care customers, global R&D, formulation centers, and commercial teams to drive innovative detergent optimization projects. Your expertise in detergent formulations—especially liquids and unit dose—will directly influence customer success and Novonesis’ technical service capabilities.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead scientific and technical interactions with major household‑care customers
Develop and apply ingredient, formulation, and process understanding for detergents
Deliver innovative technical solutions that build customer value and loyalty
Work with enzymes in liquid/solid detergent formulations
Analyze data using advanced statistical tools; generate technical reports
Collaborate with global R&D, Formulation, Marketing, and Sales teams
Apply agile ways of working; product owner experience is a plus
Lead technical projects and mentor junior colleagues
What you’ll need to be successful:
BS + 5 yrs / MS + 3 yrs / PhD + 0 yrs in Chemical or Biochemical Engineering (or similar)
Industry experience in household/home‑care detergents
Understanding technical challenges in detergent formulation and optimization
Strong experimental, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to travel up to 30% (US + occasional international)
Additional skills & interests we value:
Experience with enzyme‑based formulations
Background in solids detergents
Agile methodology or product‑owner experience
Ways of Working:
This position is onsite in Franklinton, NC.
Work spans laboratory, pilot‑plant, and production environments.
Occasional domestic and international travel required.
Physical activity is part of the role, including climbing, equipment access, and movement across production areas.
Compensation & Benefits:
Expected salary range: $95,000-$110,000
