About the Role:

We’re looking for a Senior Director, Field Medical Excellence (FME) to help us expand what’s possible for patients with serious diseases. Reporting to the Executive Director, Head of Medical Excellence, the Senior Director, FME will provide strategic leadership to the FME team driving the vision and mission of the group. This role will be responsible for developing a long-term roadmap for continuous advancement of field medical capabilities at Insmed aligned to program success. This will be a highly strategic role responsible for Field Medical tools, systems, and processes across the US, Europe, and Japan.

The Senior Director, FME will demonstrate influential leadership to drive consistency worldwide, effectively prioritize needs, and embed best-in-class capabilities in the organization. This role will closely collaborate with Field Medical Leadership globally, across medical affairs functions, and with Commercial Effectiveness, Legal, Compliance, and IT.

What You'll Do:

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to deliver strategic leadership for the Field Medical Excellence team, driving the mission and vision of the group.  You’ll also:

  • Ensure clarity in goals and objectives for FME, enable effective decision making and prioritization, and proactively plan to ensure readiness and effectiveness of the team.

  • Create a long-term roadmap for key field medical capabilities advancement taking into account regional needs assessment, external customer expectations, and industry best practices; this roadmap will include the combination of processes, tools, and systems for each capability. 

  • Develop, track, and optimize annual budget for FME in alignment with the programs and regions and ensure appropriate resource allocation to meet business needs.

  • Drive consistency in core field capabilities across regions and therapeutic areas in the US and co-create solutions to ensure global needs are met. 

  • Lead a US forum across therapeutic areas to drive US decision making on FM processes, policies, and systems, as well as serve as a best practice forum and community of practice. 

  • Lead global forum to bring together regions for alignment and best practice sharing.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of the external environment as well as industry advancements to drive continuous improvements/advancements in field medical policies, processes, and tools based on external needs and benchmarking.

  • Partner with Field Medical Leadership, Global Medical Training, Medical Insights & Analytics, Medical Strategy, Clinical Development, IT, Legal, Compliance and Commercial Effectiveness to deliver high quality, integrated plans.

  • Spend time in the field understanding customer and MSL needs and translating opportunities.

Who You Are:

You must have an advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, NP-C) and 10+ years of Medical Affairs experience including a minimum of 5+ years of field medical excellence experience.  Additionally, you have:

  • Advanced leadership skills with 5+ years of people leadership experience.

  • Advanced understanding of field medical systems, tools, and technologies.

  • Proven track record working in a global environment across multiple international markets, with understanding of US, European, and Japanese markets.

  • Deep understanding of regional healthcare systems and compliance environments.

  • Strong leadership presence and ability to present and engage across the organization.

  • Ability to influence with and without authority while building strong internal partnerships.

  • Strong strategic thinking with a forward-looking, continuous improvement mindset.

  • Ability to prioritize effectively and design clear, high-impact processes.

  • Creative problem-solving skills with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

Nice to have (but not required):

  • Direct experience as an MSL.

Where You’ll Work  

This is a fully remote role. It can be performed effectively from anywhere while staying connected to your Insmed team and community. Occasional travel for team meetings or events will be expected.

Travel Requirements 

This position involves frequent domestic and international travel (up to 20%).

Pay Range:

$222,000.00-303,000.00 Annual
