At Ipsen, we are committed to improving patients’ lives through innovative medicines. Our Wrexham site plays a key role in the development of novel biologic products, supporting Ipsen’s current and future pipeline across early and late clinical phases.
As part of the Biologics Pharmaceutical Development organisation, our Analytical Development teams apply state‑of‑the‑art methodologies to support drug substance and drug product design, development, and quality. We are now looking for an Analytical Development Scientist 1 to join our growing team in Wrexham.
Role Summary
In this role, you will execute analytical testing to support the development of Ipsen’s novel biologic products, working as part of a matrix testing team within Analytical Development. You will contribute to a wide range of activities, including stability monitoring, method development and validation, and analytical testing to support biologic product and bioprocess characterisation.
This role supports products from Phase I through Phase III, contributing to in‑process testing, characterisation, clinical and pre‑clinical batch release, and stability studies.
In This Role, You Will:
- Deliver analytical testing to support development of biologic products across clinical phases
- Perform analytical techniques including, but not limited to:
- Physical and chemical testing (e.g. pH, moisture, container closure)
- Quantitative analysis by HPLC
- Plate‑based immunoassays (e.g. ELISA)
- Purity and characterisation techniques such as HPSEC, cIEF, and SDS‑CE
- Maintain accurate GMP records and evaluate analytical data
- Present analytical findings at internal meetings and forums as required
- Support general Analytical Development laboratory activities, including equipment cleaning, daily calibrations, sample management, and inventory control
- Work collaboratively across Biologics Development teams to support study execution and data interpretation
- Contribute to SOP and process updates to support regulatory compliance
- Assist with regulatory documentation where required
- Communicate progress clearly and escalate issues appropriately
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- BSc (Hons) degree (or equivalent) in a science‑based discipline
- Experience working as part of a team
- Ability to manage own workload and meet agreed deadlines
- Willingness to learn new analytical testing techniques
- Fluent English
Preferred:
- 0–2 years’ experience working in an analytical laboratory
- Experience in biopharmaceutical R&D or analytical development for biologic products
- Knowledge of ICH guidelines
- Knowledge of GMP / GLP environments
