Role purpose
This senior position is critical to protecting our corporate assets and managing the organisation's day-to-day operational cybersecurity defences. Senior Analysts are required to undertake detailed analysis to identify threats, quantify vulnerabilities and reduce risk to the company. The incumbent is responsible for the timely review of cyber security incidents generated by security devices and logs, assessment of the situation and management of incidents to successful resolution. In all cases, the incumbent will be required to respond to events using appropriate tools and procedures. Senior Analysts are expected to have the technical dexterity to choose the right tool for the job and to understand how to use it effectively across a range of security scenarios.
Role Responsibilities
Operates as part of a 24 /7 hybrid cyber Secops team that continuously monitors the security of the company. The team must undertake the timely triage of security alerts and anomalies to allow for rapid incident detection and response thereby minimising business risk and impact.
Performs deep-dive analysis of security events, logs, network traffic, and forensic data to determine root cause, identifying suspicious and / or anomalous activities and taking appropriate action based on documented processes and procedures.
Suggests modifications to internal defences and processes for more effective and efficient security operations.
Manages security incidents through all phases of the incident response lifecycle from identification through to closure, ensures that delegated response and remediation actions are completed in line with SLAs. Provides expert analytic investigative support of complex security incidents.
Supports the tuning of all SecOps tooling and the development of bespoke correlation rules / use cases aligned to business operations, internal risk profiles and current threat intelligence.
Helps to ensures that the automation and orchestration of day-to-day operations is maximised, and that analysis / response activities are performed as efficiently as possible.
Business Expertise
Deep understanding of the cybersecurity landscape, including industry-specific threats and compliance requirements. Good knowledge of the business environment and regulatory landscape. Ability to align cybersecurity initiatives with business objectives and risk management strategies.
Problem Solving
Tackles complex, evolving cybersecurity challenges requiring innovation and adaptability. Makes good decisions under pressure, balancing rapid response with thorough investigation. Navigates regulatory requirements, emerging technologies and human factors in cybersecurity.
Impact and Influence
Establishes and maintains relationships with other Senior professionals in the cyber security world to facilitate the flow of information. Lead efforts in developing security awareness training for the broader organisation.
Stakeholder Engagement
Is a key member of the Cyber Incident Response Team (CIRT) during major cyber incidents. Establishes and maintains relationships with other investigation and remediation teams within the company, working closely with them to address the full spectrum of security issues.
Requires excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Qualifications & experience
Essential:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
Preferred Experience: 5 years in cybersecurity, with some experience of responding to significant cyber incidents involving Organised Crime and Nations State threat actors an advantage
Experience working across international manufacturing / supply chains
Preferred Certifications: CISSP, GCIA, GCDA, GSOC, GCIH
