Role Purpose
The Power BI and Azure Fabric Administrator is responsible for the Design, Deployment, Administration, Stability, Optimization, Governance and Security & Compliance adherence of the Microsoft Power BI and Azure Fabric Platform being used as enterprise Data Analytics and Intelligence Platform of Haleon.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Microsoft Power BI, Azure Fabric (Microsoft Fabric), and modern data platform governance, combined with strong stakeholder management skills in a global enterprise environment. The Power BI and Azure Fabric Administrator manages and coaches a mid-sized, globally distributed operations team, while possessing deep expertise in Microsoft Power BI, Azure Fabric (Microsoft Fabric), and modern data platform governance, combined with strong stakeholder management skills in a global enterprise environment.
The role plays a critical part in meeting the organisation’s Power BI and Azure Fabric Strategy, Governance, Risk, Compliance, working closely with Architecture, Engineering, Data Governance, Sustainability Data Product teams and enterprise stakeholders.
Key responsibilities:
Platform Administration and Operations
Administer and manage enterprise Power BI Service and Microsoft Fabric environments.
Lead and Manage L2/ L3 Operations of Power BI and Microsoft Azure Fabric Platforms.
Define and enforce governance frameworks including workspace strategy, naming conventions, access controls, and lifecycle management
Implement tenant-level configurations, security policies, and compliance standards.
Oversee Premium/Fabric capacity planning, workload management, and performance tuning.
Ensure high availability, performance, and stability of enterprise Power BI and Azure Fabric Platform.
Track & Ensure SLAs, SLOs and KPIs for Platform Operations.
Incident, problem, change, and release management, applying ITIL best practices.
Own Problem Management and Root Cause Analysis of Critical and Recurring incidents.
Drive Operational Excellence and continuous improvement
Maintain SOPs, Runbooks and Knowledge Repositories.
Define and execute Backup, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity strategies for the platform.
Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and validation requirements across all Data Platforms.
Plan, Lead and Execute OPEX cost optimization initiatives.
Technical Leadership & Hands‑On Contribution
Provide technical leadership and direction across the enterprise Power BI and Microsoft Fabric Platforms.
Contribute directly in a hands‑on capacity to the administration, troubleshooting, and optimisation.
Troubleshoot dataset refresh failures, gateway issues, and report performance bottlenecks.
Optimize semantic models and large-scale datasets.
Lead platform administration activities, including:
Environment management and monitoring
Patching and upgrades
Disaster recovery and resilience planning
Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate Azure Data Services (Data Factory,Synapse, Lakehouse, etc.) with Power BI/Fabric.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including infrastructure, security, and analytics for end-to-end platform delivery.
Support end-to-end data pipelines and ensure seamless data availability for reporting.
Define standardized onboarding frameworks, checklists and Runbooks. Strong focus on Service Improvement Initiatives, Quality of Service, Compliance adherence, Security of data and IT resources.
Monitoring and Support
Ensure 24X7 Monitoring, Alerting and Response
Set up monitoring frameworks using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Fabric Admin and 3rd party tools.
Set up automated alerts and error-handling mechanisms to ensure platform uptime and proactive issue resolution.
Monitor system usage, capacity, and performance; optimize for scalability and cost efficiency.
DevOps & Deployment
Implement CI/CD pipelines for Power BI and Fabric using Azure DevOps or similar tools.
Manage version control, automated deployments, and environment promotions (Dev/Test/Prod).
Promote best practices in code management and reusable assets.
People, Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Power BI & Azure Fabric Platform, including permanent staff, contractors, and strategic partners.
Ensure appropriate capability, capacity, and skills are in place to meet operational and delivery commitments.
Manage agency resources and external vendors to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Foster a performance‑driven, collaborative culture across globally distributed teams.
Collaborate with data engineering teams to integrate Azure Data Services (Data Factory, Synapse, Lakehouse, etc.) with Power BI/Fabric.
Collaborate closely with Data Product & Enterprise Architecture teams including but not limited to Data Architecture, Data Engineering, Sustainability, Cloud Platform Engineering and related business owners.
Partner with business stakeholders across marketing, sales, finance, and supply chain.
Guide teams on best practices for dashboard design, data modeling, and performance optimization.
Conduct training sessions and enable self-service BI adoption.
Security, Risk & Governance Manag
Ensure risks and issues related to owned platforms, programmes, and projects are identified, recorded, and actively managed.
Implement and maintain governance, security policies, and audit trail mechanisms across the Fabric environment.
Conduct regular access audits, review workspace activity, and monitor compliance across environments.
Ensure Timely Communication to stakeholders during outages, High Impact Incidents and Changes.
Support governance processes through engagement with Architecture Review Boards and Data Architects across the data platform area.
Ensuring close alignment to internal & external regulatory and compliance requirements, Security, Quality, Governance & with no critical or high findings or violation against them.
