The Associate Director, Global Supply Planning (GSP) plays a crucial role in the Cytokinetics Commercial Supply Chain, driving the optimization of the end-to-end (E2E) planning process within the tactical horizon for the assigned brand portfolio. This role is responsible for the comprehensive E2E tactical brand plan across all Supply Chain (SC) nodes, taking ownership of the supply chain configuration (Value Stream Map) and leading the brand's top-line performance, including key metrics such as service levels, cost efficiency, and inventory management.
In this capacity, the GSP supports the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, driving cross-functional collaboration to review and align E2E demand, supply, and inventory plans. This includes making strategic trade-off decisions to address any existing imbalances and ensuring alignment with overarching business objectives. The GSP is responsible for leading the complete validation of both independent and dependent brand demand across the entire E2E supply chain. This includes the critical task of demand propagation to bulk production and Drug Substance or Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) as part of the monthly planning cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for Pharmaceutical Supply Planning:
- Drive forward the global supply planning strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory compliance, and market-specific needs across all regions.
- Develop and execute strategies for global supply chain optimization, focusing on inventory management and end-to-end supply chain design specific to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Establish and champion best practices in supply planning, risk management, and disruption mitigation, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP):
- Support the global S&OP process, ensuring integrated demand and supply planning, and optimized inventory management across markets with adherence to pharmaceutical industry regulations.
- Coordinate cross-functional S&OP meetings, utilizing data to drive decisions on supply trade-offs and to resolve imbalances between demand, capacity, and supply.
- Address and resolve any supply disruptions, capacity constraints, or forecast inaccuracies, driving proactive solutions with internal teams and external suppliers while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Drive improvements in analytics and KPIs, working with the digital team on creating compelling and effective tableau dashboards that can help drive decisions in the S&OP process.
Annual Budget Planning and Performance Management:
- Support process to develop global supply plans used for annual budgeting, ensuring alignment with network strategies, production capacity, inventory design, and purchasing needs while maintaining cost control and meeting needs of or global patients and customers
- Monitor and report on critical KPIs such as service levels, regulatory compliance, on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and demand forecasting accuracy.
- Balance short-term execution with long-term strategic goals, ensuring the seamless execution of pharmaceutical supply operations across multiple markets.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, including regulatory affairs, quality assurance, commercial, finance, external manufacturing, and logistics teams.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure that the supply chain strategy supports corporate goals, while addressing both market dynamics and regulatory challenges.
- Work closely with regional and local teams to ensure supply chain strategies are tailored to meet the regulatory and market-specific needs of different regions.
Continuous Improvement & Innovation:
- Champion process improvements and continuous innovation to enhance the agility, resilience, and efficiency of the global pharmaceutical supply chain.
- Stay informed on the latest trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes in the pharmaceutical industry, ensuring that the supply chain remains ahead of industry demands.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the global supply planning function, leveraging innovative technologies and solutions to streamline operations and enhance decision-making.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing global or regional supply planning teams.
- Proven track record in pharmaceutical supply chain strategy, Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP), demand and supply forecasting, and risk management.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical production, inventory management, regulatory requirements (GxP, FDA, EMA), and distribution processes.
- Expertise in implementing and optimizing supply chain technologies and planning systems (e.g., ERP, forecasting software).
- Exceptional collaboration skills, with the ability to drive change in a cross-functional environment.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, with a data-driven approach to operational excellence.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry with global supply chain exposure and knowledge of industry regulations.
