Join our Strain Improvement department in Hørsholm and become part of a multidisciplinary team working at the heart of Novonesis’ microbial innovation. We are 14 scientists and technicians collaborating across strain improvement, phage biology, and molecular tool development to create improved microbial strains for commercial use.
Working closely with colleagues in Microbial Physiology and Computational Microbiology, the team supports microbial solutions across Novonesis businesses, from Food & Beverages to Planetary Health. Our work contributes directly to sustainable solutions with real‑world impact.
The Role & Your Impact
As a Senior Laboratory Technician, you will support research projects focused on improving industrial microbial strains and understanding the molecular basis of key phenotypes. The insights you help generate will guide further strain improvement efforts and support multiple Novonesis businesses.
Your key responsibilities include:
Performing laboratory experiments supporting natural strain improvement using microbiological, biochemical, and molecular methods
Supporting the development and application of genetic tools across different microbial species
Contributing to the development, optimization, and troubleshooting of laboratory methods and assays
Documenting experimental data accurately, communicating results within the team, and contributing to technical reports
Supporting daily laboratory operations, including instrument maintenance, inventory management, and ordering of supplies
Participating in preparation, review, and updates of SOPs
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
To succeed in this role, we expect that you have:
Education as a Laboratory Technician (Laborant/Laboratorietekniker) or equivalent
Preferably at least two years of experience in a corporate R&D environment
Hands‑on experience with and strong interest in microbiology, strain improvement, genetic engineering, and molecular assays
Solid knowledge of laboratory safety procedures, preferably within microbiology laboratories
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Additional Skills & Interests We Value
It will be considered an advantage if you also have:
Experience working with Gram‑positive bacteria and/or fungi
Exposure to method development or assay optimization
Interest in learning new laboratory technologies and approaches

Full‑time position (37 hours per week) with regular working hours
No travel required
