About the Role
The Senior Manager, Industrial Utilities Global Logistics, part of the Global CMO and Logistics Procurement organization, will be responsible for category management and sourcing activities for utilities globally. This role is responsible for developing and executing global sourcing strategies for industrial utilities across Haleon manufacturing sites. This role manages spend categories such as electricity, natural gas, water, steam, compressed air, waste management, and other plant utilities to ensure cost efficiency, supply security, sustainability, and operational reliability. The role partners closely with manufacturing, engineering, sustainability, finance, and external utility providers to optimize utility consumption and procurement strategies while supporting Haleon’s sustainability and carbon reduction targets. In this role, you will manage a spend of £50m+.
In this role you will be
Responsible for the development and implementation of global category strategies within your area of spend, in partnership with global category teams. This role will partner closely with the business and supply chain & manufacturing functions to represent needs of local stakeholders and local market dynamics to drive value for Haleon. This role is responsible for the quality, service, supply risk and cost of the services in scope of this category.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy Development
Manage a spend of £50m+ for key Utilities category in scope globally
Have a clear understanding of how global and regional strategies affect local markets and how global and regional strategies align
Build an education & communication process for global and regional stakeholders
Be the global expert in the spend categories
Develop and implement global and regional sourcing strategies for industrial utilities.
Manage strategic sourcing initiatives for electricity, gas, water, and waste utilities.
Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency, and supplier innovation.
Supplier Management
Manage relationships with utility providers, energy suppliers, and service contractors.
Build strategic relationships with key global suppliers and lead processes to ensure value is driven from these relationships.
Ensure global and regional considerations are accounted for in supplier relationships
Manage the supply base for the categories within scope through a robust performance management process. Ensure supplier performance is understood and measured.
Develop and Implement Operational excellence strategies and plans for key global suppliers to drive improvements against KPIs.
Lead supplier negotiations and long-term contracts to secure competitive pricing and service reliability.
Establish supplier performance metrics and conduct regular reviews.
Cost Optimization & Value Creation
Identify opportunities for cost reduction, consumption optimization, and demand management.
Drive initiatives such as energy efficiency projects, load optimization, and renewable energy sourcing.
Collaborate with site engineering teams to implement utilities optimization programs.
Sustainability & Energy Transition
Support Haleon’s sustainability agenda through renewable energy procurement and carbon reduction initiatives.
Evaluate opportunities such as Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), energy certificates, and on-site generation.
Track and report environmental impact related to utilities spend.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner with manufacturing sites to understand utilities demand and operational requirements.
Work cross-functionally with engineering, EHS, finance, and supply chain teams.
Provide procurement expertise during site expansion or capital projects involving utilities.
Influence key global and regional stakeholders and business partners to support strategy development, endorse recommended strategies, support execution and agree how benefit delivery will be budgeted
Risk Management
Transform the supply chain to release value and make Haleon more responsive to business and customer needs – risk mitigation, cost control, complexity reduction, simplification, best practice procurement and use of KPIs
Monitor global energy markets and regulatory developments affecting utilities supply.
Develop contingency plans to mitigate energy price volatility and supply disruptions.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
Procurement Governance
Ensure procurement activities follow Haleon policies and ethical sourcing standards.
Manage contracts, supplier onboarding, and compliance documentation.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree
Area of Specialisation: Procurement, Business, Finance, Supply Chain
7+ years of operational Procurement experience
Knowledge of Procurement tools such as sourcing, quotation analysis, contract negotiation, supplier review, supplier development and others
Demonstrated expertise in managing categories, particularly category strategy development and implementation, stakeholder management and supplier relationship management
In-depth understanding of external environment and supplier relationship models
Strong knowledge of finance (cost benchmark, financial audit with key suppliers) and legal matters (contracting)
Clear understanding of business value, business priorities, and potential implementation risks
Significant experience working in a matrix (global/ regional) business environment
Strong networking skills and a proven ability to build productive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders and business partners
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks across multiple projects using project management skills
Strong analytical, written and verbal communications, and influencing skills
Ability to work in high pressure environment, often under tight deadlines
Experience with risk management
