Job Title

• Lab Technician

Role Summary

• The Lab Technician will support laboratory and application activities related to dairy, fermented, and plant-based products. The role includes sample preparation, sensory support, documentation, inventory control, and upkeep of laboratory equipment, while ensuring compliance with ISO 22000, GMP, and GHP requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Sample Preparation and Application Support

• Prepare samples for sensory and application trials, including:
  • Set yogurt
  • Stirred yogurt
  • Separated products
  • Drinking yogurt / diluted products
  • Fermented plant-based products
  • Fermented beverages
  • Dairy phage testing
• Support routine laboratory trials and sample handling as per defined procedures.

2. Documentation and Quality Compliance

• Maintain ISO 22000 documentation and records.
• Perform data entry and update ingredient lists, sample preparation reports, and related lab records.
• Support internal and external audits by ensuring records are complete and traceable.
• Assist with calibration documentation and compliance checks.

3. Inventory Management

• Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory consumables and trial materials, including:
  • Aprons, hair nets, shoe covers
  • Milk, SMP, fruit preparations, flavours, water, sugar
  • Packaging materials such as plastic bottles, cups, and flexible pouches
  • Chemicals for enumeration, phage testing, and CIP
• Coordinate with suppliers for timely replenishment and stock follow-up.

4. Laboratory Equipment Support

• Assist in routine operation, cleaning, upkeep, and minor troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
• Coordinate AMC, breakdown handling, and calibration activities.
• Manage consumables and basic maintenance for equipment such as:
  • pH meter
  • Indifoss milkoscan
  • Silverson mixer
  • Refrigerator
  • Hot air oven
  • Batch pasteurization unit
  • Homogeniser
  • Incubators and steriliser
  • Axeon
  • Texture analyser
  • Optical microscope
  • Centrifuge
  • Label printer

5. Safety and Housekeeping

• Follow laboratory safety practices and maintain cleanliness and order in the lab.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of samples, chemicals, and equipment.

Educational Qualification and Experience

• Qualification

• B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Microbiology, Food Science & Technology, Dairy Science & Technology, or Nutrition; or B.Tech. in Food Science & Technology / Dairy Science & Technology

• Experience

• Fresher may apply; 1–3 years of experience preferred

• Specialization

• Dairy Technology, Microbiology, Food Science, or Food Technology

Desired Competencies

• Team player
• Positive learning attitude
• Agility and adaptability
• Good communication skills
• Working knowledge of GMP and GHP
• Attention to detail and record accuracy

Preferred Profile

• Hands-on exposure to dairy and fermented product testing
• Familiarity with lab documentation and audit support
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced application or R&D laboratory environment
