Job Description:

Summary & Purpose of the Position

The Communications & Patient Advocacy Manager is accountable for defining and executing integrated communications and patient advocacy strategies across Poland.

The role ensures the patient perspective is systematic embedded in strategic decision-making, and that corporate and portfolio communications effectively support Ipsen’s purpose and business priorities.

This position acts as a key strategic partner to internal & external stakeholders, influencing those stakeholders to deliver impactful initiatives.

The role drives disease awareness, patient activation, and corporate reputation and the enhancement of Ipsen’s corporate reputation through aligned, compliant, and impactful communications and advocacy programs.

Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies

Define, lead and implement the local Communications & Patient Advocacy strategy aligned with global priorities and local business objectives. Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on reputation management, advocacy engagement, and external communications. Represent the company in high-level external forums, patient advocacy coalitions, and industry associations. Details below as follows:

Patient Advocacy

  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships with patient advocacy groups and professional organizations to elevate the patient perspective internally and externally. Support patient organizations in engagement with local authorities, associations, and policymakers through disease awareness initiatives, including media and social media activities, patient‑driven actions, and institutional support.
  • Ensure inclusion of disease areas and patient priorities in the political agenda through roundtables, op‑eds, and coalition‑building initiatives, linking the burden of disease to broader political and public health priorities.
  • Design and execute country‑driven “Voices‑like” events, including the development and deployment of toolkits and local execution support.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop innovative, high‑impact campaigns and projects that increase disease awareness and enable patient activation.
  • Oversee the development of disease awareness and education programs supporting both pre‑launch and post‑launch objectives.
  • Drive co‑creation initiatives with advocacy partners to improve patient outcomes and access to care.
  • Contribute to shaping local legislation and cost‑containment discussions relevant to the therapeutic areas.
  • Provide insights on local unmet medical needs and contribute to policy and payer agenda discussions.
  • Share disease awareness insights and patient advocacy group feedback with global teams, ensuring alignment and integration into global strategy.

Communications

  • Lead external communications programs, including media relations, thought leadership, and crisis communications, and drive local executive communications for the General Manager (internal and external).
  • Deploy global science, product, and disease awareness campaigns at the local level.
  • Oversee the development of integrated campaigns across multiple channels (digital, social, and traditional media) and manage local media and social media relations.
  • Provide strategic counsel and media training to senior executives for external engagements.
  • Manage and editorialize local internal and external communication channels, ensuring consistent messaging across all audiences.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and accountability by supporting additional internal and external projects requiring communications and project management expertise within the scope of the Market Access function.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of multi‑channel communications approaches and develop strategies that deliver maximum impact.

Corporate Social Responsibility:

  • Coordinate local engagement with communities where we operate (e.g., Community Day and other relevant events).
  • Coordinate support for local external sponsorships and donations, ensuring that all legal and ethical standards are met.
  • Actively drive local communication of corporate commitments and achievements (e.g., environmental strategy, global access to Health initiatives, Ipsen Foundation initiatives etc).

General:

  • Ensure compliance and transparency with all corporate, industry, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Comply fully with Ipsen’s guidelines.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating the five Ipsen Ways of Being.
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with all SOPs, policies, and Ipsen guidelines.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Degree in business, communications, life sciences, or related field.
  • 4+ years in communications and/or patient advocacy roles
  • Proven experience in healthcare/pharma industry.
  • Experience in oncology, neuroscience, or rare diseases
  • Strong track record in strategic planning and execution of advocacy and communications programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Media training and crisis communication expertise.

Languages:

  • High proficiency in written and spoken English and Polish is essential
