About the role
The Quality, Supply Chain & R&D (QSC & R&D) Domain Architect is a senior Enterprise Architecture role within Digital & Technology (D&T), accountable for shaping and governing the end‑to‑end architecture across Quality, Supply Chain and Research & Development domains, while working in close partnership with other Domain Architects to deliver a coherent, simplified enterprise architecture.
Operating at the intersection of science, operations and technology, this role engages closely with senior leaders including Chief Quality Officer, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Head of R&D, Manufacturing and Operations leadership, and works laterally with Commercial, Corporate Functions, ERP and Technology Domain Architects to ensure architectural decisions optimise enterprise‑level outcomes, not just domain performance.
The role designs, governs and evolves architectures that support regulated, safety‑critical and globally distributed operations, ensuring technology investments align to compliance, resilience, innovation velocity and end‑to‑end value streams. A core expectation is the ability to engage, influence and align both senior business leaders and peer Domain Architects, translating complex trade‑offs into clear, enterprise‑aligned decisions.
Role purpose
To define, govern and evolve enterprise‑level architectures for Quality, Supply Chain and R&D, while actively collaborating with other Domain Architects to ensure Haleon’s technology landscape is integrated, simplified, outcome‑driven and aligned to a small number of strategic global platforms.
Key accountabilities
The QSC & R&D Domain Architect is accountable for:
Enterprise architecture strategy across Quality, Supply Chain and R&D
Strong engagement with and influence over senior Quality, Supply Chain and R&D leaders
Active collaboration with other Domain Architects to ensure enterprise coherence
Translation of regulated and operational strategies into target architectures and roadmaps
Close alignment with the ERP Domain Architect for SAP‑centric capabilities
Design of end‑to‑end, cross‑domain process architectures
Reduction of complexity through platform convergence and standardisation
Governance of architectural standards, principles and guardrails
Key responsibilities
1. Quality, Supply Chain & R&D Domain Architecture
Define domain strategies and target architectures across:
Quality (QMS, Deviations, CAPA, Change Control, Audits, Complaints)
Supply Chain (Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, Traceability, Serialization)
R&D (Clinical, Formulation, Product Development, Lab Systems, Data Management)
Architect solutions that enable:
Regulatory compliance and audit readiness
Supply chain resilience and end‑to‑end visibility
Faster, safer product development and innovation
Full product lifecycle traceability
2. Senior Leadership Engagement & Influence
Act as a trusted Enterprise Architecture advisor to senior leaders across Quality, Supply Chain and R&D.
Translate complex architectural topics into clear, executive‑level options, risks and recommendations.
Shape investment, prioritisation and transformation decisions through credible architectural insight.
Balance regulatory risk, operational resilience, speed and cost in senior‑level decision forums.
3. Cross‑Domain Collaboration with Other Domain Architects
Work closely and continuously with other Domain Architects (Commercial, Corporate Functions, ERP, Technology) to:
Design joined‑up end‑to‑end value streams (e.g. idea‑to‑market, plan‑to‑ship)
Align architectural decisions across domains to enterprise strategy
Prevent fragmentation and local optimisation
Actively participate in Architecture governance forums, contributing domain insight while supporting enterprise‑wide outcomes.
Resolve cross‑domain architectural tensions through collaboration, not escalation.
4. ERP & SAP Alignment (In Partnership with ERP Domain Architect)
Work in close partnership with the ERP Domain Architect on SAP‑centric processes including:
Manufacturing, planning and batch genealogy
Quality events and compliance integration
Financial and inventory alignment
Ensure ERP capabilities align with:
End‑to‑end business processes
Regulatory and validation requirements
Enterprise data and integration standards
5. Strategic Platform Convergence & Simplification
Drive architectural decisions that reduce tool proliferation across QSC and R&D landscapes.
Collaborate with other Domain Architects to steer towards:
Fewer strategic global platforms
Standardised core capabilities with disciplined extensions
Challenge domain‑specific solutions that undermine enterprise integrity, scalability or compliance.
6. Regulatory, Quality & Compliance‑by‑Design Architecture
Ensure architectures embed regulatory and compliance requirements including:
GxP (GMP, GCP, GLP)
Data integrity, validation and auditability
Design quality‑by‑design and compliance‑by‑design architectures that reduce reliance on manual controls.
7. Cross‑Domain Integration & End‑to‑End Product Flows
Partner with other Domain Architects to govern integration patterns across:
R&D ↔ Quality
Supply Chain ↔ Finance
Supply Chain ↔ Commercial
Ensure consistent master data, event handling and traceability across domains.
Enable a single, trusted view of product, quality and supply performance.
8. Data, Analytics & AI‑Enabled Architecture
Architect data flows to enable:
Predictive quality and supply risk analytics
End‑to‑end operational visibility
Accelerated insight across R&D and manufacturing
Align analytics architectures with enterprise data platforms and governance.
