As an Electrical Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in enhancing the reliability of electrical and utility equipment across the site. By leveraging data-driven insights, predictive maintenance strategies, and continuous improvement methodologies, you will help reduce unplanned downtime, optimize maintenance effectiveness, and support long-term operational excellence.

The role & your impact

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and driving equipment reliability programs for electrical and utility systems throughout their lifecycle. You will work closely with maintenance, production, engineering, and project teams to improve equipment availability, identify failure risks, and implement sustainable reliability solutions.

Your key responsibilities in this role

  • Develop and implement reliability improvement plans for utility and electrical equipment, including motors, transformers, distribution systems, switchgear, and control systems.
  • Establish equipment reliability evaluation methodologies and identify potential failure risks through data analysis and performance monitoring.
  • Lead root cause investigations for electrical and utility equipment failures using RCA, FMEA, and other reliability engineering tools.
  • Develop, implement, and track corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurring equipment issues.
  • Optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to improve equipment reliability while balancing maintenance costs.
  • Build and maintain equipment health monitoring systems, analyzing parameters such as temperature, vibration, current, voltage, and maintenance history.
  • Generate reliability reports, equipment health assessments, and predictive maintenance recommendations based on data trends.
  • Participate in developing technical standards and operating procedures covering equipment selection, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
  • Support new equipment introduction projects through reliability reviews and risk assessments.
  • Provide technical guidance to maintenance and operations teams to resolve complex electrical issues.
  • Develop reliability-focused training programs and promote a culture of proactive maintenance and continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and advanced condition monitoring tools to continuously improve reliability performance.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, reliability engineering, asset management, or a related industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, motors, transformers, MCCs, control systems, and utility equipment.
  • Proven experience applying reliability methodologies such as FMEA, RCA, RCM, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
  • Experience with condition monitoring and predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret equipment performance data and identify reliability risks.
  • Experience using CMMS, EAM, or asset management systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Good written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Strong ownership mindset, continuous improvement focus, and ability to drive change.

Additional skills & interests we value

  • Experience with Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), digital maintenance, or smart manufacturing initiatives.
  • Knowledge of ISO 55000 asset management principles.
  • Certification in reliability engineering, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or related disciplines.
  • Experience with data analytics, equipment health modeling, or predictive analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with thermal imaging, vibration analysis, power quality analysis, and online monitoring technologies.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous improvement in maintenance and reliability practices.

Working conditions

  • Primarily site-based role supporting manufacturing and utility operations.
  • Frequent interaction with production areas, utility facilities, substations, and electrical equipment installations.
  • Regular field inspections and equipment condition assessments.
  • May require support during critical equipment failures, shutdowns, or major maintenance activities.
  • Occasional after-hours support may be required based on operational needs.
  • Travel requirements, work schedule, and on-call expectations to be defined according to site requirements.
