About this role

Manage and develop MSLs within the region including hiring, field training, evaluation and motivation, in alignment with Alnylam's corporate values, strategies and objectives. Provide strong leadership to motivate the team and achieve outstanding results that align with goals. Identifies, develops, and maintains effective professional relationships with critical external stakeholders including building a network of Therapeutic Area scientific experts in the US. Develop and ensure alignment in medical education activities for healthcare professionals through MSL-delivered presentations, participation in medical meetings, and other appropriate venues to enhance disease state knowledge. Facilitate processes and identify key MSL talent to collaborate with the clinical team and CRA's to coordinate and optimize educational and research support for sites/investigators participating in company sponsored clinical trials Interpret and translate national strategies into MSL field activities that include development and engagement with regional opinion leaders in individual MSL territories. Guide and mentor MSLs in the execution of disease awareness and clinical trial recruitment strategies. Lead Alnylam's MSL team at national and regional scientific meetings including staffing medical affairs booths, and gathering competitive intelligence Identify and track key deliverables and insights that highlight value of the MSL organization demonstrating customer impact Guide and assist MSLs in the coordination of opinion leader interactions across the region and with internal stake holders as necessary. Clearly articulate national, regional, and territory plans and tactics; define, clarify and manage regional team priorities; actively support the regional team within their scope of responsibility by being their advocate and spokesperson; promote sense of urgency and collaboration within the team, across work groups and with clinicians. Develop and maintain productive and appropriate relationships with individuals across the organization including cross-functional groups. Ensure that all interactions and activities in the region comply with Alnylam's guidances and policies. Remote; Home office based near a large metro area Ability to travel up to 60 to 70% is required. Advanced scientific degree (eg MD, DO, PharmD, DNP or PhD) and 5+ years of Medical Science Liaison leadership experience Rare disease TA experienced preferred Excellent communication, presentation and time management skills required; must be adaptable, solution-oriented and able to work well within a team and relate effectively with people at all levels of the organization Able to inspire a team to excel by fostering a climate of energy, excitement and personal accountability Strong scientific and clinical acumen; clinical/ patient care preferred Strong business acumen Excellent leadership/management skills including demonstrated leadership in ambiguous situations Current working knowledge of US legal, regulatory, and compliance regulations and guidelines Ability to partner with key internal stakeholders to understand Alnylam's key objectives, and to drive plans that exceed these.
