We are looking for an experienced and strategically minded Category Manager to lead our global procurement activities for the pharmaceutical direct materials portfolio Filtration & Single-Use Materials.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies that ensure security of supply, regulatory compliance and competitive costs, while driving innovation and long-term value creation. You will work closely with internal stakeholders across Production, Quality, R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain and Finance, as well as with strategic suppliers worldwide.

Your main tasks and responsibilities 

 

  • Develop and implement global category strategies while managing the supplier portfolio, single-source risks and supplier development for filtration and single-use materials
  • Lead material and supplier development processes, negotiations and contract renewals, including pricing, supply agreements and other commercial terms, while identifying and implementing cost-saving and value-creation opportunities
  • Ensure continuity of supply by proactively managing supply, capacity and market risks, while monitoring market developments, raw material trends, inflation, production capacities and technological innovations
  • Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory functions to ensure compliance with GMP and applicable pharmaceutical regulations throughout qualification, change control and lifecycle management activities for direct materials
  • Contribute to supplier audits, risk assessments and business continuity planning
  • Manage supplier performance based on quality, delivery, service, innovation and total cost of ownership, ensuring compliance with contractual commitments, service level agreements and performance targets while identifying improvement opportunities
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers
  • Prepare management reports, forecasts and category performance analyses, and represent Procurement in cross-functional projects, new product introductions and manufacturing transfer initiatives
  • Leverage artificial intelligence and advanced analytics solutions to enhance market intelligence, supplier evaluation, cost modelling and decision-making

 

 

The category includes pharmaceutical filtration systems and filter components (such as virus, sterilizing and process filters, depth filtration materials and filter aids), as well as single-use materials (including tubing, bags, assemblies, connectors, process equipment and related consumables).

 

Your expertise and ideal skill set 

 

  • University degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Administration or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in strategic procurement and sourcing in healthcare environments
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and a GxP-regulated working environment is preferred
  • Excellent negotiation skills are essential; project management skills are preferred
  • Proficiency in digital sourcing and analytical tools such as Excel, SAP/Ariba and Power BI; exposure to and practical application of AI technologies is considered a strong advantage
  • Fluent English; German language skills are preferred
  • Strong business and financial acumen combined with an analytical and structured working style
  • Perseverance, strategic thinking and a hands-on mentality

The minimum gross salary according to the collective agreement (chemical industry) is EUR 4,355.55 based on 38 hours per week (full-time). As we strive to offer a salary that reflects your individual profile and qualifications, there is a willingness to pay above the minimum salary.
