About this role

Clinical Laboratory Assistant

ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation united by a mission to bring new medicines and treatments to patients faster.

As a values-driven organisation, integrity, collaboration, agility, and inclusion are at the heart of how we work and interact with each other, customers, patients and suppliers.

At ICON's state-of-the-art Phase I Clinical Research Unit (CRU) in Budapest, you will play a critical role in supporting the processing, handling, storage, and shipment of clinical trial samples generated during early phase studies. Working closely with clinical and laboratory teams, you will help ensure the accurate processing of pharmacokinetic (PK), biomarker, and other biological samples while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and patient safety. This role is focused on sample processing activities rather than diagnostic testing and provides an excellent opportunity for individuals with a laboratory technician or laboratory assistant background to contribute to the development of new medicines.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Support the preparation, processing, labelling, storage, and tracking of biological samples in accordance with study protocols and laboratory procedures.
  • Prepare laboratory reagents, consumables, and equipment required to support clinical and analytical testing activities.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities, equipment, and inventory to ensure operational readiness and compliance with quality standards.
  • Complete and maintain accurate laboratory documentation, records, and sample tracking information in line with GCP, GLP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with laboratory and clinical teams to support the efficient delivery of Phase I clinical research studies.
  • Promote a safe and compliant working environment by adhering to SOPs, health and safety regulations, and quality processes.

You Will Have/Be

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a qualification in a scientific, laboratory, or healthcare-related discipline is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory, healthcare, clinical research, or other regulated environment would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately handle samples, documentation, and laboratory records.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and flexible approach to supporting operational activities.
  • Commitment to quality, compliance, and patient safety, with a willingness to learn and develop within clinical research.
