Job Summary (Primary function) The Senior Research Scientist will be responsible for the building, implementation and hands on support of a high-throughput robotics and mass spectrometry laboratory supporting weekly screening drug metabolism and ADME assays such as metabolic intrinsic clearance, CYP450 inhibition and transporters. The Senior Research Scientist will also serve as a subject matter expert in mass spectrometry assisting and training laboratory staff members. Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities) Independently work with laboratory staff members to miniaturize end-to-end robotics workflow for select weekly screening drug metabolism and ADME assays, including using state-of-the-art high-throughput robotics and mass spectrometry instruments Learn and become independent with the conduct, analysis, reporting and archiving of drug metabolism and ADME biochemical assays using LC-MS/MS bioanalysis Work seamlessly with cross-functional stakeholders and laboratory staff members Perform routine laboratory tasks, including reagent preparation, equipment/instrument maintenance, and supply management Independently analyze, record, and archive data into Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN), prepare summary documents and report data as needed Independently build high-quality LC-MS/MS methods for high throughput drug metabolism and ADME assays. Able to identify and troubleshoot problems with the LC-MS/MS and HT-MS instruments and/or quality issues of the resulting data. Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency) Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline and at least ten years experience, or Ph.D. with 3+ years, working in a high throughput drug metabolism / ADME or biochemistry laboratory Strong preference given to candidates with experience using HT-MS platforms such as Agilent Rapid Fire and/or Sciex Echo mass spectrometry Experience working with liquid handling robots such as Hamilton or Tecan. Strong preference given to candidates able to program robots for novel drug metabolism/ADME assays Ability to independently manage assigned tasks while meeting timelines and quality expectations in a fast-paced work environment Attention to detail, and effective oral and written communication skills Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this job.
