About the Role:

 
As Associate Director, Scientific Communications at BioNTech, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how we share our groundbreaking oncology research and innovations with global audiences. Your work will directly support our mission of transforming science into survival by ensuring that our medical strategies and evidence-generation priorities are effectively communicated through clear, accurate, and compliant scientific content.  In this role, you will collaborate across global teams to design and execute comprehensive communication plans for oncology assets, driving impactful medical education and publication initiatives. You will thrive in a dynamic environment where your ability to translate complex clinical data into meaningful narratives will influence both internal stakeholders and external scientific communities.

Your Contribution:

• Develop and implement strategic scientific communication plans tailored to oncology assets, ensuring alignment with medical strategy and audience needs.
• Lead the development of medical education and scientific communications deliverables for US and global audiences, including scientific platforms, core scientific narratives, MOA stories, slide decks, training resources, congress and portfolio booth materials, digital education, and other non-promotional scientific content.
• Manage end-to-end publication planning and execution for manuscripts, abstracts, posters, oral presentations, and other deliverables.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to adapt global content for regional use while maintaining consistency in scientific messaging.
• Lead relationships with medical communications agencies to ensure high-quality deliverables that adhere to timelines and budgets.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives in scientific communication standards and processes within your domain.

A Good Match:

• Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) or equivalent qualification preferred; candidates with relevant master’s degrees and substantial experience are also considered.
• Proven experience in oncology-focused scientific communications within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
• Expertise in publication planning and execution for manuscripts and congress-related deliverables.
• Strong ability to interpret clinical data and translate it into clear communications for diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated project management skills with experience managing agencies and multiple parallel deliverables.
• Working knowledge of medical review processes, authorship principles (ICMJE), publication ethics (GPP), and applicable industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in gastrointestinal or genitourinary tumors or early-stage oncology pipelines.
• Familiarity with pre-launch or launch-readiness activities in oncology settings.
• Background in developing scientific platforms or digital medical education tools.

Your benefits and remuneration:

If the position is filled in the US, the Expected Pay Range is $146,300/year to $234,100/year + benefits, annual bonus & equity (bonus and equity is variable and dependent on company and individual performance). Compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

Compensation at other locations may vary significantly.
