About this role

At Lilly, the work is demanding because patients are waiting. We unite caring with discovery to help make life better for people around the world, knowing that every decision, every detail, and every day matters. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, our over 50,000 employees around the globe take on complex challenges to discover and deliver life-changing medicines, strengthen how health is understood and managed, and support the communities we serve. This is hard, urgent, selfless work—but it’s work worth doing. If you’re driven by purpose and ready to bring your best to work that truly matters for patients, we invite you to join us.

LillyDirect is an innovative, industry-first direct-to-patient platform designed to improve access to care, reduce healthcare costs, and provide integrated support to people managing chronic disease. As we scale rapidly, extending that experience to the healthcare professionals (HCPs) who prescribe and coordinate care for patients is central to our mission.

We are seeking a visionary Director, Software Product Management, LillyDirect based in our Silicon Valley Hub/San Francisco Bay Area! This role leverages the product operating model to lead a cross-functional team to drive strategy, design,  development, and execution of our HCP digital product portfolio. This role is pivotal in shaping how healthcare professionals discover, adopt, and stay engaged with LillyDirect over time. As a senior product leader, you will be building the strategic foundation that allows LillyDirect's HCP engagement capabilities to scale and evolve as the business grows, while reducing friction in the provider experience and supporting better patient outcomes.

What You Will Do:

Strategy and Vision Setting

Deliver a data-driven strategy for LillyDirect's HCP engagement portfolio, partnering across the product team to ensure alignment with larger LillyDirect vision. Ensuring that HCP engagement is built as a durable, scalable capability rather than a series of point solutions. Stay up to date on HCP-facing technology and third-party solutions, including EHR vendors and e-prescribing networks. Champion the voice of the provider in every product decision, using engagement data, HCP satisfaction trends, and qualitative research to inform priorities.

Product Strategy and Roadmap

Define and implement a bold HCP engagement product strategy, roadmap, timeline, and requirements. Align HCP product initiatives with provider satisfaction, adoption, and business outcomes, and prioritize investments based on HCP engagement metrics, workflow efficiency gains, and impact on prescribing behavior. Ensure consistent delivery across a portfolio of interconnected HCP-facing products—including HCP portals, provider communication channels, and tools that meet HCPs within their existing workflows.

Team First Mentality

Embody a no-ego, team-first mentality in all interactions. Foster a collaborative culture that prioritizes shared success over individual recognition. Represent the product team with humility and integrity when engaging with key business collaborators.  Create an environment of close collaboration with design and engineering to ensure solutions are grounded in real clinical workflows, technically scalable, and aligned with the broader LillyDirect experience.

User Experience and Design

Partner with UX/UXR to uncover end-to-end HCP journeys across key segments and touchpoints and to ensure workflows are intuitive and integrate seamlessly into existing clinical systems, anticipating provider needs before they arise. Advocate for design quality and accessibility throughout the product lifecycle, and use data-driven insights to continuously reduce provider friction and improve engagement, adoption, and workflow completion rates.

Technical Collaboration

Partner with engineering to assess architectural trade-offs for HCP platform components, including provider identity and authentication, communication infrastructure, and integrations with the systems HCPs already use in their day-to-day work (which may include EHRs, e-prescribing, and benefit-verification tools among others). Establish technical standards and ensure scalable, modular solutions that can flex with provider volume and product expansion.

Your Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related stem fields

  • At least 6+ years of product management experience

  • Demonstrated experience building digital products for healthcare professionals (HCPs), such as provider portals, clinical decision support, or other provider-facing tools

  • Track record of setting and delivering multi-year product strategy, including sequencing investments and building durable platform capabilities rather than one-off features

  • Working familiarity with HCP-adjacent technical systems (e.g., EHRs, e-prescribing networks, PA solutions) sufficient to guide integration decisions in partnership with engineering

  • Working knowledge of the US pharmaceutical reimbursement landscape—prior authorization, real-time benefit verification, formulary access, and patient affordability programs—and how these factors influence HCP decision-making

  • Experience evaluating third-party solutions and engaging with external vendors

What You Should Bring:

  • Industry recognition as an inspiring leader in HCP engagement, provider experience, or health-tech product management

  • Solid understanding of HCP clinical and administrative workflows, including prescribing, referrals, and care coordination

  • Proven track record of driving measurable improvements in provider engagement, adoption, or workflow efficiency

  • Deep understanding of user experience principles and human-centered design applied to clinical and provider audiences

  • Experience building or scaling a long-term product vision for a provider-facing platform, ideally within pharma, health tech, or digital health

  • Experience with EHR integration, e-prescribing, or point-of-care technology

  • Familiarity with US reimbursement and market access dynamics as they affect provider workflows, including prior authorization, and copay/affordability programs

  • Experience with modular platform design and shared services architecture within provider-facing ecosystems

  • Excellent communication and influence skills, including engagement with C-level executives

  • Resilience and persistence in navigating ambiguity, overcoming obstacles, and driving progress in complex, fast-paced healthcare environments

  • Exceptional leadership and critical thinking skills with strong business acumen and provider empathy
