This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience while learning how our biological solutions perform in production environments, supporting continuous improvement efforts, and helping optimize product performance across our manufacturing processes. 

As a Product Specialist Intern, you will work closely with production, quality, technical, and engineering teams to understand how Novonesis products perform throughout the manufacturing process. You will help evaluate product performance, investigate operational challenges, analyze data, and support initiatives that improve efficiency, quality, and product outcomes. 

Key responsibilities include: 

• Monitor and evaluate product performance within manufacturing processes. 

• Analyze process and product data to identify trends, opportunities, and potential issues. 

• Support investigations related to product quality, process performance, and operational challenges. 

• Collaborate with production, quality, technical support, and engineering teams to optimize product use and performance. 

• Assist with product trials, validation activities, and continuous improvement projects. 

• Develop technical reports, summaries, and recommendations based on findings. 

• Support knowledge-sharing activities by documenting best practices and lessons learned. 

• Present project findings, recommendations, and outcomes to site leadership and cross-functional teams. 

What You’ll Need to Be Successful 

We are looking for students who are currently pursuing a degree in: 

• Food Science 

• Chemistry 

• Chemical Engineering 

• Or a related technical discipline 

Required qualifications and competencies: 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

• Interest in biotechnology products and their application within manufacturing environments. 

• Ability to interpret data and communicate technical findings effectively. 

• Curiosity about how biological products perform and create value in industrial processes. 

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

• Ability to work independently while managing project responsibilities. 

• Effective communication and collaboration skills. 

• Minimum 3.0 GPA. 

• Sophomore standing or higher at the time of application. 

• Ability to arrange your own housing and transportation. 

Additional Skills & Interests We Value 

While not required, the following qualifications would be beneficial: 

• Experience with laboratory, research, or technical projects through coursework, research, or previous internships. 

• Familiarity with data analysis, process monitoring, or quality systems. 

• Interest in industrial biotechnology and product performance optimization. 

• Curiosity, initiative, and a desire to learn in a dynamic manufacturing environment. 

Ways of Working / Working Conditions 

• Full-time internship assignment lasting approximately 10 weeks.  

• Located on-site in Wausau, Wisconsin. 

• Exposure to industrial manufacturing operations and equipment. 

• Occasional use of required personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering production areas. 

• Collaboration with cross-functional teams including operations, engineering, and quality. 

Compensation & Benefits 

Expected salary: $23/hr
